Video: Bicycle trip to Haralanharju ridge 30.7.2011

I made a 50 km bicycle trip from Tampere to Haralanharju ridge observation tower at Kangasala.

Haralanharju ridge inspired the Finnish national poet Zacharias Topelius to write the song ‘A Summer’s Day in Kangasala’ in 1853:

1. I´m perched on the highest tree-top of Harjula´s highest ridge. The clear blue waters glisten as far as my eyes can bridge. And Längelmävesi´s inlets spread wide their bright silvery snood and in the distance sweet Roine. Its shores by soft ripples are vooed.

Background music: Kesäpäivä Kangasalla 1921, Juho Koskelo.

There is a 1000 singers version of this song: mp3.
