From Santa Marta to Manizales, Colombia 5-11.11.2011

Santa Marta

El Rodadero

In this photo there is El Rodadero Beach of Santa Marta just before the rain. I am now shooting still photos with my video camera Panasonic HDC-SD90.

I changed hotels in Santa Marta a couple of times. In Sun Cityssä (Calle 18), Hotel Saboy (Calle 11) and Hotel Las Vegas wifi was not really working. Only in Casa Familiar (Calle 10) I had no problems with internet connection.

Go south

I intended to go south through Bugaramanga, but all the buses from Santa Marta to Bugaramanga were evening buses so I chose the more western route through Cartagena and Medellin.

Kolumbian kartta

I was in Cartagena just at the right time, the next bus to Medellin left in half and hour at 4.30 pm. The bus was in Medellin at 6.15 am. Again the only meal break was stupidly after driving 11 hours.

Rapido Ochoa bus was not as spacious as Expreso Brasilia. The price was the same, expensive 108 000 pesos, there must be some kind of price cartel on the Cartana – Medellin route.

In Medellin I had to change from the northern bus station to the southern, it took 9 stops by metro and 20 min by foot. In the southern station could use free public wifi the first time in Colombia.

Manizales

Manizales

It was raining in Manizales, but I could not catch a taxi, so I walked 3 km in slippery steep streets looking for a hostel.
