Hospedaje California Beach Mancora Peru

Hotel California Beach, Mancora, Peru.

Mancora is a popular beach destination in Northern Peru, about 130 km from the Ecuadorian border. The town has about 10 000 inhabitants.

I saw a lot of foreigners in Mancora, but short Peruanos were clearly the majority. In Montanita, Ecuador, there were much more gringos than locals.

Conviniently the summer begins here in December. Weather forecast for the next days says there will be 25-29 degreen in Mancora.

I liked to watch and film kite surfters, I will publish a video later.

California Beach Mancora

My hotel room in Hospedaje California Beach is below right in the photo.

California Beach hotel cost 40 soles/night (11 e). Good: pool, hot water, wi-fi, close to beach. Bad: no mosquito nets.

Lounas Mancora

Fish lunch 8 soles (2,20 e).

I ate here Ceviche for the first time (photo: right), as a starter at lunch. I had to try, because it was sold everywre from Ecuadorian beaches to here. I didn’t like, only ate half.

Wikipedia tells that Ceviche is fresh raw fish, marinated in citrus juices such as lemon or lime and spiced with chilli, also onion, salt, coriander, and pepper may be added.

The capital Lima is 1175 km and 18 hours from Mancora, but I go there (and Macchu Picchu) another time. Instead I begin my way back to Bogota, it’s 62 hours bus trip (source).
